Architecture Photography

Saturday 30 November
Deansgate and Castlefield - 11am - 2 Hours

Architectural photography can be a great way of exploring and documenting a city, whether it's your home or on holiday. Its about capturing not only the design and accurate representation of a building, but to have the shots be aesthetically pleasing to the viewer's eye. An architectural photographer makes pictures, not takes pictures. In this session, we will be covering how to better understand Architecture photography and we'll be looking at ways to take some impressive shots and the camera settings to use. Taking place in the deansgate area, we will move into castlefield and bring focus to the industrial architecture of victorian manchester. We will be using the formal elements of photography as a guideline so look out for an email a few days before the event with some further information on this.

One of my lines of enquiry is the notion of transcience and regeneration in urban environments and how skylines change and evolve over a period of time, boasting architectural treasures from different periods., creating a great juxtaposition between different building types, such as sthe old chapel with a tower resembling a Venetian campanile and the modern glass skyscrapers. The painting was completed in 2019 in gouache and the sky based on a photograph I took early in the morning.

Title or Location: Stanley
This is Stanley, he is a sweet little dachshund puppy that belongs to a daughter of a friend, Kaela. I needed to find a way to produce a sample artwork but have no pets of my own. Kaela had asked how much it would cost for me to paint her puppies even though she knew she felt she couldn't afford it. Well, I'm glad she did, I'm glad she took interest in my work and I really felt connected to the photo she shared with me of this cute little dog.Well, needles to say, I needed to produce a piece

Title or Location: Siberian Tiger
Here is my A4 drawing of a Siberian Tiger created with prisma colour pencils. The background was intentionally left white in order to empathise and better exhibit the tiger. The piece was first started back in 2016 during my apprenticeship as a tattoo artist. Interestingly it was only finished in 2021 after sitting for almost 5 years. After much impatience and long breaks from art I decided to return to the piece with years later with a renewed optimism and fresh eyes. It was one of my ear
